Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the clinical and colonoscopic features of polyps in minor patients and the clinical value of colonoscopy for the diagnosis and treatment of polyps.MethodsThe clinical and colonoscopy data of minor patients with intestinal polyps found in our hospital by colonoscopy were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into less than seven years group, 7|14 years group, and 15|18 years group.ResultsIntestinal polyps of minors were usually found in less than seven years old group and more common in men.Blood in the stool and abdominal pain were the main causes for children to undergo colonoscopy.Polyps in the less than seven years group were more commonly found to be single, larger than 1.5 cm in size, located in the left half colon and with low grade intraepithelial neoplasia than the other two groups (P<0.05).There were no serious complications after polypectomy, such as serious bleeding and perforation.ConclusionIntestinal polyps of minors are usually found in male less than seven years old and are mostly single, pedicled, large in size, mainly located in the left half colon and with high ratio of low grade intraepithelial neoplasia.Intestinal polyps can be diagnosed quickly with colonoscopy and endoscopic polypectomy is safe and effective.
