Abstract:Objective To study the correlation between Tannerella Forsythensis(Tf)and atherosclerosis. Methods Patients scheduled for arterial reconstruction surgery and also with chronic periodontitis were enrolled in this study. The atheromatous plaques were collected during the surgery and subgingival plaques were collected before the operation, and those collected plaques were examined using PCR to detect Tf, then PCR products were sequenced and compared. Results In 21 cases, the detection rate of Tf in the atherosclerotic plaques was 29%, and the detection rate of two sources Tf in the same patient was 24%. While using blast contrast to compare the PCR products examined in the two places, we found significantly correlation in nucleotide similarity. Conclusion Tf may play roles in the occurrence and development of atheromatous plaques.
