Abstract:ObjectiveTo evaluate the treatment outcomes among different vertical facial skeletal types in adolescences with skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion.MethodA total of 42 skeletal Class Ⅲ adolescences treated by orthodontic treatment were collected and were divided into three groups according to different vertical facial skeletal types. The cephalometric measurements before and after treatment were analyzed by indepentsamples ttest when homogeneity of variance.Otherwise, when heterogeneity of variance, Satterthwaite ttest was used.ResultsAll of the three groups effectively ameliorated the skeletal Ⅲ deformity.Patients with high angle corrected the crossbite by clockwise rotation of the mandibles, anticlockwise rotation of the occlusion planes and the teeth compensation, while low angle patients more depended on upper anterior teeth protrusion and the forward growth of the maxillary. The change of the normal angle patients were the teeth relative movement.ConclusionThe treatment outcomes were not the same among adolescences with skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion by normal orthodontic treatment.
