Abstract:Objective To investigate the current status of the cerebral apoplexy high-risk population and its risk factors in Ningde City, providing scientific basis for stroke prevention. Methods Residents of 40 years of age or older in Jiaocheng district were selected by cluster sampling method. 11 588 cases were recorded and analyzed with computer. Results According to the stroke screening and evaluation, 8 508 cases had low risk of stroke, 1 107 cases had intermediate risk, while 1 960 cases had high risk. In the 40~69 age group, the prevalence trends of hypertension, atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, and diabetes increased with age whilethe number of smokerdecreased with age. Residents under 50 years old did least amount of physical activites In high-risk group, there were 1 206 men and 754 women. Conclusion In Jiaocheng district, risk factors of stroke are higher in the residents of 40 years of age or older. The prevalence trends of hypertension, atrial fibrillation or valvular heart disease, diabetes increases with the age in the range of age 40 to 79. Meanwhile, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and less physical activities are the top three risk factors in the high-risk group.
